The celebration of Yennayer throughout Algeria by reviving ancestral traditions.

Like all peoples across North Africa, the Algerian people is celebrating the first day of the new Amazigh year 2968, declared by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika as an official holiday, that is the Yennayer festival, coinciding every year with the 12th of January.
People celebrate Yennayer in various ways, but what is common to all is Imensi n Yennayer or the dinner of the first day of Yennayer.
The meal prepared for this occasion is hearty and different from the everyday ones. The rites are performed in a symbolic manner. They aim to eliminate the famine and augur the future and the change.
